The Naturalist's Childhood, 2015
Rebecca Edwards (Adelaide, Australia)
natural and found objects including sulphur-crested cockatoo beak, cuttlefish beak, snake backbone, kelp roots, woodpecker-pecked birch bark, blackbird eggs, Victorian era china and images, beeswax, handmade paper, tissue paper, shadow box
19.7" x 15.7" x 2" (50 x 40 x 5 cm)

In this box I wanted to convey the joy of discovery in the natural world which begins in childhood, and which, if we are lucky, never leaves us. It contains many of my personal treasures, including an echidna claw and vertebra, and a tiny china teacup from a very old dump.
